David Proval (born May 20, 1942 as David Aaron Proval) is an American actor, known for his role as Richie Aprile on the HBO television series The Sopranos.

Proval was born in Brooklyn, New York of Jewish heritage.[1] He has appeared in such feature films as The Shawshank Redemption, Four Rooms, UHF, Mean Streets, The Siege, a cameo appearance in Smoking Aces, and has had recurring roles in television shows such as Picket Fences and Everybody Loves Raymond. One of Proval's earliest roles was as Tony DeVienazo in director Martin Scorsese's Mean Streets in 1973.
